Software Development Placement Intern Role and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Software Development Intern for IBM Maximo Safety. Maximo is the leading Enterprise Asset Management Portfolio. IBM Maximo Safety is part of the OpenShift based Maximo Application Suite (MAS). It enables customers to potentially minimize or avoid hazards and injuries by providing proactive protections with personalized risk assessment and near real-time protection leveraging latest sensors, devices, and Edge technologies.
We are working to develop the capabilities of our offering that offer clients the ability to improve the safety of their workplace and their people. Planned developments leverage IoT technologies, AI and Machine Learning, Edge computing, biometric sensors, Big Data analytics and OpenShift.

You will be a member of the experienced MAS Safety development team. The Safety team is focused on continually improving Agile/CI, technical and test automation best practices and offer an excellent and friendly environment for a junior developer to experience working with a professional development team.
MAS Safety is a Hybrid Cloud application with React web and mobile clients and NodeJS Backend and Edge Gateway. We can offer full stack or frontend/backend development experience.

This is to start January 2022 and will be a Placement for University Students.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Demonstrated interest in a development role as part of an agile development team
  • Demonstrated skills developing in JavaScript (React, NodeJS, TypeScript or NativeScript), Java and/or Python.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing secure, scalable distributed Cloud native applications
  • RESTful Webservices
  • Web or Mobile Applications
  • SQL datastore
  • K8s, Containers, OpenShift
  • Logging, Alerting and Monitoring
  • Experience debugging complex problems
  • Strong interest in new technologies, sensors, smart devices, and AI/Machine Learning
  • Interest in working with IoT technologies and platforms, devices, sensor, Edge computing, MQTT Protocol
  • Interest/experience in Mobile application development
  • CI/CD Pipeline – automating QA, security scanning and continuous delivery to Dev and integration test environments with CI/CD tooling (Travis/Jenkins)
